Oppo’s Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max have launched globally and are already on sale in the UK, bringing Oppo’s latest Hasselblad-tuned camera phones to Europe.

The headline model for photographers is the Find X10 Pro Max, which has three 200MP rear cameras. The standard Find X10 has 200MP main and telephoto cameras with a 50MP ultra-wide. Both get a 50MP selfie camera, up from 32MP on the previous generation.

The Pro Max also works with Oppo’s Hasselblad teleconverter kit, and it’s this that makes it particularly interesting. The teleconverter lens bayonets onto a metal plate that slides onto a dedicated case, and multiplies the 70mm-equivalent telephoto by 3.28x to give 230mm, roughly 10x the main camera. In early sample testing, GSMArena found 10x shots very sharp and 40x results quite usable, though the teleconverter mode captures at 12.6MP and can’t be used in Pro mode. The plate also blocks the other cameras while it’s fitted.

It’s still a fiddly solution compared with simply having a longer lens built in, but for wildlife, sport and stage photography from a phone, nothing else in the mainstream market gets you to 230mm optically.

Both phones are powered by MediaTek’s 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro chip. UK and European models have a 7,150mAh battery, smaller than the 8,000mAh cells in the Chinese versions.

Oppo has said it is planning faster European launches and more carrier partnerships, and getting the Find X10 series to the UK so soon after its Chinese launch is a strong start. With triple 200MP cameras and an optional optical teleconverter, the Pro Max is set to be one of the most capable camera phones of the year.
