Panasonic LUMIX L10 specifications, price and release date announced

Panasonic has announced the new LUMIX L10, also known as the DC-L10, and it looks like a very deliberate nod to photographers who want a proper-feeling camera without committing to an interchangeable-lens system. The supplied EU press release shows all three colourways together on page one, with Black, Silver and the commemorative Titanium Gold Special Edition presented as part of LUMIX’s 25th anniversary story. Panasonic’s official announcement says the camera was developed in Osaka, Japan, and has been created for intuitive control, refined design and high image quality. What catches my eye straight away is that Panasonic hasn’t treated the L10 as just another travel compact. The body uses a saffiano leather-textured finish, a high-quality metal exterior and a magnesium alloy front case, so the emphasis is clearly on feel as much as features.
