The Lexar Professional CFexpress Type B / SD USB 3.2 Gen 2 Reader comes into its own when its performance is tested. I used the reader with a range of Lexar CFExpress and SD cards, including the Diamond, Silver, and Gold. These had been previously used in cameras like the Canon EOS R5 C and the Sony A7R V.
The reader’s speed shone through consistently as it swiftly and smoothly transferred large volumes of data, remembering that this is still USB Type-C and not Thunderbolt 3. High-resolution images, 8K RAW videos, and large batches of files were handled effortlessly, showcasing the reader’s data processing capabilities. Notably, there was no observable degradation in performance when handling either CFExpress or SD cards which were especially useful for the larger 2TB Gold CFExpress card.
During periods of prolonged use, the reader maintained a steady performance. It handled heavy-duty tasks without issue and maintained high transfer speeds, solidifying its standing as a top-tier data transfer tool.
