Samsung has launched the Galaxy F70 in India, a new budget phone sold online through Flipkart.

From a photography point of view, the headline is the 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation. OIS is still far from guaranteed at this price, and it makes a real difference to low-light shots and handheld video. It’s joined by a 5MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro camera, with a 13MP selfie camera at the front.

The screen is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with a Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. There’s a waterdrop notch for the front camera, which looks a little dated next to the punch-hole designs that are now common, but it’s a minor point at this level.

Battery capacity is 5,000mAh with 25W charging, and the phone has an IP54 rating for splash and dust resistance. Samsung India hasn’t confirmed the chipset or which version of One UI it runs.

The F series is Samsung’s online-focused range for India, and as GSMArena points out, the specs will look familiar to anyone who follows Samsung’s budget phones. There’s no word on a UK release, and F-series models rarely come to Europe under that name.
