Panasonic has added a compact ultra-wide prime to its full-frame LUMIX S line-up: the LUMIX S 20mm F2.5. It arrives alongside a set of free firmware updates for the LUMIX ecosystem, the most significant of which finally brings faster frame rates to the pocketable S9. Details are on Panasonic’s site. A small 20mm, and why that fits The S 20mm F2.5 (S-S20) is an L-Mount lens pairing a genuinely wide 20mm focal length with a moderately bright F2.5 aperture in what Panasonic describes as an exceptionally compact design. That combination is the point. A 20mm gives you a properly wide field of view — for interiors, landscapes, astro and vlogging — while F2.5 keeps the optic small rather than chasing a fast aperture that would make it big and heavy.
