VESTA Aspire And VEO Metro Target Compact Camera Users
Vanguard has spotted something many of us have been talking about for a while: compact cameras are having a proper moment again. After years of smartphones swallowing up the point-and-shoot market, premium compacts and creator-focused small cameras are back in bags, pockets and social feeds.
Now Vanguard is responding with two new compact camera bag lines, the VESTA Aspire and VEO Metro, designed for photographers, vloggers and everyday creators who want something smaller than a traditional shoulder bag but safer than just dropping a camera into a coat pocket. The new bags are aimed at compact cameras, small vlogging cameras and premium fixed-lens models, with prices starting at £14.
I think the timing is interesting. Vanguard’s release points to a wave of renewed interest in compact cameras, partly driven by influencers moving beyond smartphones and partly by the same nostalgia that has helped film photography and vinyl records find new audiences. It also namechecks popular models including the Kodak Pixpro FZ55, Canon PowerShot V10, Sony ZV-E10L and Leica D-LUX 8 as examples of the revived compact-camera landscape.
The VESTA Aspire range is the value option. It comes in grey and blue, with small and medium sizes priced at £14 and £17 respectively. The VEO Metro range steps things up with tougher 300D material, water-resistant SBS zippers, a more textured finish and four colour choices: beige, black, cream and burgundy. Vanguard’s UK store also lists VEO Metro Small Compact Camera Bag models at £20 and VEO Metro Medium Compact Camera Bag models at £25.
Both series include a removable shoulder strap, a rear belt loop and accessory pockets for small extras such as SD cards or spare batteries. The VEO Metro models add a clip for attaching the pouch to a backpack strap, which feels like a useful touch for travel, city shooting or days when you want your compact camera ready without carrying a full photo bag.
The small size is designed for compact cameras up to 70 x 50 x 115mm, while the medium version takes cameras up to 80 x 70 x 130mm. Vanguard recommends the smaller options for models including the Canon PowerShot V10, Kodak Pixpro FZ55, Lumix TZ99, OM System Tough TG-7 and Sony ZV-E10L, while the medium VEO Metro is suggested for larger compact-style cameras such as the Fujifilm X100VI, Leica D-LUX 8, Nikon Z30 with 16-50mm lens and Panasonic DC-G100D.
