Entry-level DJI drone brings smart safety and 4K shooting
What you need to know about the DJI Lito 1
The DJI Lito 1 is the cheaper of DJI’s two new Lito beginner drones, but it still includes omnidirectional obstacle sensing, ActiveTrack 360° and a sub-249g body. It is aimed at first-time flyers who want DJI’s latest entry-level aerial camera drone at a lower price, without stepping up to the more advanced Lito X1. While it misses out on LiDAR, HDR video and D-Log M, it still offers 48MP stills, 4K video and smart automated shooting modes. UK pricing starts at £299.
Affordable beginner drone
DJI has expanded its entry-level drone lineup with the new Lito 1, a lightweight aerial camera drone aimed squarely at beginners who want modern safety features and easy-to-use shooting tools without paying for the top-spec model. It sits below the new Lito X1, but still keeps much of the same appeal for first-time pilots.
The big story here is that DJI has not treated the Lito 1 like a bare-bones budget option. It still gets omnidirectional obstacle sensing, which should make it more approachable for nervous first-time flyers, and it also supports ActiveTrack 360° for automated subject tracking. That means users can capture moving subjects more easily without needing much experience behind the controls. QuickShots, MasterShots, Hyperlapse and Panorama are also included, giving the drone the same kind of beginner-friendly shooting toolkit found across DJI’s broader consumer range.

Imaging is handled by a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor with 48MP effective pixels. DJI says the Lito 1 can shoot up to 8K stills and record 4K video at up to 60p, with 4K/100fps also available. The main compromises compared with the Lito X1 are the lack of HDR video, no 10-bit D-Log M and no forward-facing LiDAR. So while it still sounds capable, it is much more clearly aimed at buyers prioritising price and simplicity over maximum creative flexibility.
The rest of the package sounds solid for a starter drone. DJI quotes up to 36 minutes of flight time with the standard battery, 15km video transmission, Wi-Fi 6 QuickTransfer and a take-off weight under 249g. That should make it easy to pack, easy to fly and less daunting for users moving up from a smartphone or action camera. DJI does note, however, that Battery Plus is not supported in the EU and UK on the Lito 1.
For anyone looking for a first proper camera drone without stretching to the more advanced X1, the Lito 1 could be the sweet spot in the new lineup. It keeps the features most new users are likely to care about, while trimming back the extras that push the price up.
