News

The Camera Jabber Photographer of the Year competition is run on Photocrowd over 12 months with a different theme each month. Every month, the ‘expert judged’ winner selected by the Jabber team goes onto the shortlist for the overall winner.

With over 29,000 entries from over 10,000 photographers, during 2020, all of the shortlisted photographers deserve hearty congratulations and the final judging session was lively. But now we can reveal the Camera Jabber Photographer of the Year 2021 is… Azim Khan Ronnie with his image ‘Celebration with Fire’ which he submitted for the December 2020 ‘Celebration’ round of the competition.

Azim shot his image on a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with the Canon 16-35mm lens as devotees attended prayer during a religious festival called Rakher Upobash or Kartik Brati in Narayanganj, Bangladesh.

The low light meant that even though he was shooting with the aperture at f/2.8, Azim had to use a shutter speed of 1/30sec while the sensitivity was at ISO 1250.

We felt that the image encapsulates the celebration brief of the December 2020 round of the competition and it caught all of the judges’ eyes, making it a worthy overall winner.

We love the warm glow from the candles which form a ‘V’ shape and make a frame around the man raising his hands in prayer.

Congratulations Azim!

As well as winning a license for DxO PhotoLab 4 Elite worth £179 for his December victory, Azim wins the overall prize of Nik Collection 3 by DxO worth £129 and the title Camera Jabber Photographer of the Year 2021. The Camera Jabber Photographer of the Year 2021 trophy will be heading to him very shortly.
