Lomography has refreshed two of its most fun film cameras with new finishes: chrome-effect and deep purple Sprocket Rockets, and a glossy red Lomomatic 110.
Lomography has released two new editions of its panoramic Sprocket Rocket, the Starlight and Ultra Violet, along with a new Ladybug version of its Lomomatic 110. The news was first reported by Kosmo Foto.
Sprocket Rocket: panoramas with the sprocket holes in
The Sprocket Rocket is a 35mm panoramic camera that exposes the full width of the film, including the sprocket holes, so the perforations become part of the picture. The Starlight edition comes in a chrome-effect silver plastic, while the Ultra Violet is finished in deep purple.
The mechanics are unchanged. There’s a 30mm lens with two apertures, f/10.8 and f/16, and a 1/100 sec shutter plus Bulb. It has a hotshoe for flash, a tripod thread, and supports multiple exposures, which is where the camera really shines, as you can overlap wide frames by winding on only part of the way.
Lomomatic 110 Ladybug
The Lomomatic 110 is one of the few new cameras made for the tiny 110 cartridge format, and the Ladybug edition adds a glossy red finish. It has a 23mm glass lens with f/2.8 and f/5.6 apertures, an automatic shutter from 30 sec to 1/250 sec plus Bulb up to 30 sec, and ISO settings of 100, 200 and 400. It also supports multiple exposures and takes one CR2 battery.
Why these still matter
Neither camera is about technical perfection. That’s the point. In a world where phones deliver clean, flawless images automatically, cameras like the Sprocket Rocket force you to think about the whole strip of film as a canvas. They’re also an affordable, low-risk way into film photography. For students on our darkroom evenings, a sprocket-hole panorama printed on fibre paper is still one of the most satisfying first results.
The Lomomatic 110 matters for a different reason. It’s helping keep 110 film alive, with Lomography one of the few companies still producing new stock for the format.
