Venus Optics has announced the Laowa 4mm f/2.8, price tag $199, circular fisheye lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras.
An 8mm equivalent fisheye prime, the Laowa 4mm f/2.8 offers a 210-degree field of view. What’s more, you can create panoramas with just two images.
Photographers can focus as close as 8cm from the sensor, and the Laowa 4mm can also be mounted to DJI Inspire X5 drones for ultra-wide-angle aerial shots.
Depth of field is so deep from the Laowa 4mm that Venus Optics says no focusing is required. Simply set the focus ring at infinity focus and stop down the lens to around f/5.6 and everything will be in focus.
The Laowa 4mm f/2.8 is comprised of 7 elements in 6 groups and measures just 45mm long, weighing in at 135g.
The Laowa 4mm f/2.8 will be released around mid-August.
