The Sony World Photography Awards 2019 has officially opened for entries, adding three new categories to the competition.

Now in its 12th year, the Sony World Photography Awards 2019 adds the Brief and Documentary categories to the Professional competition.

Brief asks photographers to compose a body of work on a specific theme, which will be ‘Identity’ in this year’s contest.

Documentary is a new category for bodies of work portraying facts about a chosen subject.

In the Open competition judges have added a new Creative category.

Sony World Photography Awards 2019 prizes and deadlines

Photographers have until November 30, 2018, to enter the Student competition, January 4, 2019, for the Open and Youth competitions, and January 11, 2019, for the Professional categories.
