Rumours are circulating that Ricoh could soon cease camera production and release a new full-frame GR-E camera under Pentax branding, where all new camera production will be centralised.
The rumours originated from a discussion on DPReview, which states that the Pentax GR-E price tag will be $1800 with a release date of June 2018.
It was also claimed the Pentax GR-E (E signifying ‘extreme’) will boast a 36-megapixel curved sensor.
Other suggested features are a 28mm f/2.4 non-retractable lens, top ISO of 51,200 and a customisable lens ring. The GR-E body size is said to be 122mm (W) × 64.7mm (H) × 39.8mm (D).
Of course, this is all speculation at this point so take it with grains of salt. But it’s an interesting camera rumour – one that caught us off guard and yet seems plausible. Watch this space…

I’m hoping to see some Pentax/Ricoh related announcement at CP+ in March. I believe they first showed the K-1 there.
