Ricoh has announced the HD PENTAX-D FA 70-210mm f/4 ED SDM WR lens designed for use with full-frame Pentax K-mount DSLR cameras.

The new Pentax telephoto zoom comes in a lightweight (819g), weather-sealed body and a multi-layer HD Coating.

Ricoh says its newly developed HD coating improves light transmittance but also reduces average reflectance in the visible light range by more than 50 percent, minimising the adverse effects of flare and ghost images even in demanding lighting conditions such as backlighting.

The HD PENTAX-D FA 70-210mm f/4 ED SDM WR offers a minimum focusing distance of 0.95 meters and a maximum magnification of 0.32 times.

The lens’s optical construction consists of 20 elements in 14 groups, with three ED glass elements and two anomalous dispersion glass elements.

Other features include a Super Protect coating to repel water, grease and dirt from the front element and a built-in Supersonic Direct-drive Motor for quiet AF.

The HD PENTAX-D FA 70-210mm f/4 ED SDM WR lens price tag will be $1,100 with a release date set for February 2020.
