OM System’s new PEN is turning out to be more popular than the company planned for. OM Japan has warned customers that, because pre-orders have been so high, some PEN bodies and kits may not reach buyers until spring 2027 or later, even if they have already ordered.

The camera still goes on sale in Japan on 30 October. But according to the notice, reported by Digital Camera Watch and 43 Rumors, delivery times depend on the product and colour. The products affected are:

The standalone M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III lens is not on the delayed list. There’s no indication yet whether UK supply will be affected, and we’ve asked OM System UK for comment.

Two new lenses spotted

Separately, an OM System video appears to have revealed two lenses that haven’t been announced yet. The slides, first spotted on Reddit’s r/M43 community and reported by 43 Rumors, show an M.Zuiko 40-150mm F4.5-5.6 R II and an M.Zuiko 45mm F1.8 II.

Both would be updates to popular, affordable lenses. The original 40-150mm R is a lightweight telezoom that’s often bundled in kits, and the 45mm F1.8 is a favourite short-telephoto portrait prime for Micro Four Thirds. Second-generation versions would likely bring weather sealing and a design that matches newer bodies, which would make them natural partners for the PEN.

OM System hasn’t confirmed either lens, so treat the names as provisional until it does.
