Compact bi-colour light adds app control and weather resistance outdoors
Godox has introduced the FL15Bi, a compact bi-colour LED video flash light aimed at creators who want a small, controllable light for quick shooting setups. The headline here is portability: the FL15Bi weighs around 253g and uses a 15W bi-colour LED source, so I see it fitting naturally into the sort of kit bag you take when you do not want to carry a full lighting case. Godox positions it for both studio and outdoor work, with IP54 weather resistance, app control and accessory-based light shaping included in the concept.
The FL15Bi’s output is rated at 25,600 lux at 5600K from 0.5m when used with the zoom lens in spot configuration, which is a useful figure for a light this small. It is not being pitched as a replacement for a larger key light, but for fill, product work, handheld accents, desk-based video, social content and quick location lighting, that sort of pocket-sized output could make a lot of sense. Godox also says the beam is designed for smooth colour mixing and even illumination, which is particularly relevant when you are working close to a subject.
One of the more interesting details is the foldable silicone zoom lens. Rather than simply clipping on a rigid modifier, the lens can be folded into different positions to alter the light angle, and Godox says it folds down to 2.5cm. The light also supports magnetic 4-leaf barndoors, which rotate through 360 degrees, while an optional zoom lens reflector narrows the beam to a more concentrated 5 degrees. That gives the FL15Bi a more flexible feel than a basic pocket panel.
For colour control, the FL15Bi covers 2800K to 6500K and includes 11 built-in FX effects, including firework and candlelight. There is also a Torch mode for long-exposure light painting, operated by holding the “+” button to illuminate the light and releasing it to turn the light off. Control is available directly on the unit or through Bluetooth app control at up to 30m.
Power comes from an internal 4750mAh lithium battery, with a rated runtime of approximately one hour at full brightness. USB-C charging is supported, including charging while in use, and the listed charging time is approximately 2 hours 25 minutes. Godox has also built in an internal cooling fan and dedicated vents, which should help maintain stable output during continuous use.
