Lensmaker Meyer Optik Görlitz has been acquired by another German company, but backers of the previous company’s crowdfunding campaigns will still not be getting their money back, according to reports in the German press.

OPC Optic has purchased the insolvent Meyer Optik Görlitz, according to News8.de. In the report the new owners stat the Meyer Optik will once again make lenses.

However, OPC confirmed that those who pre-ordered Meyer Optik lenses on its Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns will not be receiving their money back.

In a Google translation of the report, OPC says:

No, if you had a lens on preorder on Kickstarter/indiegogo you will NOT get your money back. OPC Optic acquired the brand name but not the “net SE” company that is behind all that mess.Still, OPC Optic is considering you to give those people a discount on future lens purchases.

OPC says that the Meyer Optik brand will resume production as soon as possible; however, going forward the company will eschew crowdfunding and pre-sales and only pursue sales via classic distribution methods.
