Manfrotto launches BeFree Advanced GT travel tripod with 10kg payload

Manfrotto has updated its BeFree range of tripods, announcing the BeFree Advanced GT travel tripod, which comes in both carbon fibre and aluminium versions priced at £370 and £220 respectively.

The BeFree Advanced GT offers wider, sturdier legs than the standard Advanced, and increases the tripod’s payload by 2kg to 10kg.

The BeFree Advanced GT is aimed at professional photographers and advanced enthusiasts, and features 100% carbon fibre on all the legs (in the carbon fibre version) and weighs just 1.55kg in the carbon version and 1.85kg in the aluminium. This makes the BeFree GT just 300g heavier than the Advanced.

The BeFree GT can also fold down to just 43cm, while extending up to 164cm with the centre column raised.

Like other BeFree tripods from Manfrotto, the GT comes with a padded bag for easy transport.

The BeFree GT also boasts Manfrotto’s new 200PL-PRO plate. This plate fits all of Manfrotto’s other normal 200PL plates, but it also fits into Arca Swiss heads so that you can swap between different systems.

The GT comes with Manfrotto’s Advanced 496 aluminium Centre ball head and also uses Manfrotto’s M-lock twist lock and leg angle selector, which offers three independent leg angles.

Other features include the Easy Link port inherited from the Advanced tripod, which allows you to attach a micro friction arm and mount any accessory that has a quarter-inch thread.
