Leica has released FOTOS 2.0, the latest version of its app, which is available in both free and pro versions.

Speed is at the heart of the FOTOS app update, Leica says, with gallery loading speeds and image data transfer rates now twice as fast as before.

The app is available for both the iPhone and Android phones. The free option allows users to curate image galleries and share photos.

FOTOS Pro supports DNG raw files, offers a remote video mode and integrates with Adobe Lightroom.

What’s more, Leica FOTOS Pro is available as an integrated app for the iPad.

Adobe Lightroom integration (for iOS/iPadOS): Deeper, more detailed post-processing is now easier than ever before. With a tap on the Lightroom logo button embedded within the FOTOS Pro app, the selected image opens directly in the Lightroom Develop window for processing, or in the Lightroom Library view if multiple images are selected.

RAW file transfer: In addition to JPGs, images in DNG RAW format can also be transferred from the camera to the mobile device to maximize the potential for post-processing and getting the most quality possible out of each edited file.

Video mode: The camera’s video mode can also be remotely controlled from the FOTOS Pro app. As well as almost all camera settings, this also includes the filming process itself – the mobile device becomes a helpful off-camera monitor for additional viewing while filming. Wireless transfer of recorded videos to a mobile device is not yet implemented.
