Leica has officially discontinued the M7, the last remaining film camera from its numbered M series.
A report posted on the Red Dot Forum says that Leica Camera is ceasing all production of the M7.
Effective immediately, Leica will no longer produce any more new M7 cameras, in black or silver. There still might be a handful in stock at various dealers, but once sold out, no more will be coming from Wetzlar. The same goes for the a la Carte program. No M7-based configurations will be accepted or built for customers wanting a custom camera.
Launched in 2002, the Leica M7 was the last film camera in the range. The M8 brought the series into the digital era when it debuted four years later in 2006.
The Leica MP and M-A, however, will continue to be produced.
