GoPro Hero 5

GoPro Hero5 Black

GoPro Hero5 BlackGoPro has announced the newest addition to the Hero range at Photokina 2016, unveiling the GoPro Hero 5 Black.

This latest model breaks from previous version by firstly being the sexiest GoPro to date, the design is elegant and understated and shows why GoPro lead the action camera market.

Best deals:

Headline features include 4k video, 2-inch touch screen display, voice control and direct file upload to the new GoPro+ service. The GoPro 5 will also go on sale for just $399 / £349 which makes it the cheapest lauch price for a GoPro Hero Black yet.

New GoPro Hero 5 design

The new design sheds the waterproof housing required by previous generations and now the rubberised all-in-one design is waterproof up to 30 feet. The old design in the housing enabled up to 30m, but this is far more than the majority of people need.

The new design also features three microphones to improve audio quality on the move and without the muffling effect of the housing there should be an instant and marked improvement. The three microphones are selected by the camera automatically so if one is suffering from the effects of wind rush then audio will switch to one or the other two.

A slightly qwerky new feature is the voice activated control where you can tell the GoPro to take a photo “GoPro take photo” and it will!

The final big new feature is the GoPro+ service which works along side the updated app. Once activated and signed up the GoPro will automatically upload your footage to the service so that you can view and edit the files as you see fit. The service also features auto editing features which after the purchase of app’s such as Quik recently should be good.

The GoPro Hero 5 also feature GPS built in which is an exciting move. Other video capture specification remain much the same with 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 120fps.
