Fujifilm has announced the latest addition to its medium format G Format line, introducing the rangefinder style Fujifilm GFX 50R, with a release date set for November.

The new body design of the Fuji GFX 50R places it 145g lighter and 25mm thinner than the GFX 50S. In total, the new GFX 50S body design is 66.4mm thick.

With the 0.77x 3.69-million-dot organic EL electronic viewfinder, the GFX 50S weighs in at 920g.

The magnesium alloy body has also been weather-sealed in 64 places to make it dust and weather resistant.

Inside the GFX 50S is a 51.4-megapixel medium format (43.8mm x 32.9mm) G Format sensor that has been optimised for better light gathering performance and image resolution.

Alongside the sensor is Fujifilm’s X-Processor Pro image processing engine.

Other features include a Focus Lever (AF joystick) and support for Fujifilm’s Film Simulation modes, including Velvia, PROVIA and ACROS.

On top of the camera two two aluminium dials for shutter speed and exposure compensation. There’s also support for a wide range of tethering software, as well as Bluetooth compatibility.

Fuji GFX 50R price information wasn’t available at the time of writing. We’ll update this post when that information becomes available.
