Canon has announced a brand new RF-S range of lenses for its new APS-C format EOS R system cameras, the EOS R7 and EOS R10.
The first additions to Canon’s RF-S range are the RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM, price tag £319.99 / $299.99 / €379.99, and RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM, price tag £519.99 / $479.00/ €619.99.
The new RF-S kit lenses are both lightweight and compact and designed for everyday shooting.
RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM
The RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM boasts a retractable design for greater portability, with features such as manual focus override and a lead screw-type STM for quiet AF in video mode.
With an equivalent focal length of 29-72mm, the RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM is a multi-purpose lens for all types of photography. It also features in-lens optical stabilisation with coordinated control for up to 6.5 stops of stabilisation when used with the new Canon EOS R7.
RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM
The new Canon RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM offers a maximum magnification of 0.59x in MF for exploring macro scenes. Its equivalent 29-240mm focal length also offers flexibility for shooting a multitude of subjects and scenes.
The RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM also boasts in-lens optical stabilisation with coordinated control for 7 stops of IS when used with the new EOS R7.
It also features a leadscrew-type STM for smoother, quieter AF performance in video mode.
Both lenses also promise minimised chromatic aberrations and distortion correction.
