Canon has announced the first of its ‘trinity RF f/2.8’ lenses, introducing the RF 15-35mm F2.8L IS USM, price tag £2,329.99 / €2,749.99.
Canon’s widest RF-mount lens yet, the 15-35mm F2.8L IS USM lens boasts two ultra low dispersion and three moulded glass aspheric lens elements which are designed reduce distortion and aberrations.
Aimed at landscape and architectural photographers, the Canon RF 15-35mm F2.8L IS USM is also the first wide-angle L series lens to feature Canon’s 5-stop Image Stabilization.
The Dual sensing IS and Combination IS improves the IS shake detection capabilities of the lens and also automatically detects when the lens is being used on a tripod and will turn off the IS system.
The Canon RF 15-35mm F2.8L IS USM also uses Canon USM technology, which employs a motorised system for high-speed focusing during video recording.
Other features include a control ring that can be assigned to adjust aperture, shutter speed, ISO or exposure compensation, a manual focus ring, weather sealing and fluorine coating on the front and rear elements.
The Canon RF 15-35mm F2.8L IS USM price tag will be £2,329.99 / €2,749.99, with a release date set for September 2019.
