Honor has been teasing its upcoming Win2 series, made up of the Win2, Win2 RT and Win2 Turbo. Launch is expected next week in China.
The headline feature is the display. Panel maker Visionox has confirmed on Weibo that all three phones use what it calls the world’s first 2K 185Hz display. It has 0.93mm bezels on all four sides, a 5,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate and 5,920Hz PWM dimming, which should help anyone sensitive to screen flicker.
Like the RedMagic 12 Pro+, the Win2 series has an active cooling fan, and Honor is also pushing battery capacity hard. According to GSMArena, the standard Win2 is said to have a 10,100mAh battery and the Win2 RT 12,070mAh. Honor hasn’t confirmed the chipset, but the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is widely expected.
Honor hasn’t revealed anything about the cameras yet. These are clearly performance-led phones, and we’ll be looking at whether the camera setup keeps pace with the screen and cooling when the full specifications arrive.
Very high refresh rates sound impressive, but they usually only work in a handful of supported games. The more useful upgrades for most people are likely to be the bright 2K panel and those very large batteries.
