DJI has released a new Pearl White version of the Osmo Pocket 4P, its dual-lens pocket gimbal camera. It’s on sale in the UK now.

Inside, nothing has changed. The Osmo Pocket 4P pairs a 20mm f/2.0 main camera, built around a 1-inch CMOS sensor with LOFIC technology, with a 60mm f/1.8 medium-telephoto lens. DJI quotes 17 stops of dynamic range for the main camera, which records up to 4K at 240fps for 8x slow motion and supports 10-bit D-Log 2 and HDR video. The 60mm lens gives 3x optical zoom and up to 12x zoom in total, and DJI says it delivers an f/6.3-equivalent depth of field for shallow-focus portraits.

The new part is the finish. DJI uses mica-infused pearlescent pigments and a multi-layer spray coating, which it says produces soft, shifting highlights depending on the light and viewing angle. Every accessory in the box is white too, from the fill light and wrist strap to the handle and carrying pouch, so the whole kit matches.

It’s a purely cosmetic change, but it makes sense. The Pocket series has become a favourite with travel and lifestyle vloggers, many of whom are on camera as much as behind it, and a white version will stand out from the usual sea of black creator kit. Light finishes do show dirt more easily, though, so it’s worth keeping the pouch handy.

The rest of the feature set is the same as the black model. Stills go up to 37MP, and a 4K Live Photo mode records a 1.5-second clip with every shot. ActiveTrack 8.0 handles subject tracking, and USB 3.1 transfers files at up to 800MB/s. Battery life is up to 210 minutes, with fast charging from 0 to 80% in 18 minutes. Newly captured footage can also transfer automatically to an iPhone when you switch the camera off. The Pearl White model works with all existing Osmo Pocket 4 accessories, including ND and polarising filters, the wide-angle adapter, the battery handle and OsmoAudio mics.
