LK Samyang has given a first proper look at its AF 28-135mm F2.8 FE, a full-frame zoom for Sony E-mount that’s due in February 2027. The lens was first mentioned at IBC 2025. The new preview includes close-up images and the main specifications, but not the price.
The appeal is the range. A constant f/2.8 aperture from 28mm all the way to 135mm would give Sony shooters noticeably more reach than the usual 24-70mm f/2.8, and no other E-mount zoom keeps f/2.8 at that focal length. For wedding and event photographers, that could mean one lens covering everything from group shots to candid portraits across a room. For video shooters, it could replace a two-lens setup.
According to the published details, the lens weighs 854g and uses 20 elements in 16 groups with a water- and oil-repellent coating. Autofocus is driven by a voice coil motor (VCM), and the lens is weather sealed. It takes 82mm filters, and its length extends from 151mm to 190mm when zooming.
The preview images show control rings with the same grip pattern as lenses LK Samyang has co-developed with Schneider-Kreuznach, which suggests this could be another joint project. As DPReview pointed out, though, LK Samyang hasn’t officially confirmed that.
Pricing will decide a lot here. Samyang has built its reputation on fast, affordable lenses, and if it can price the 28-135mm well below Sony’s own G Master zooms, it could be a very tempting option for working photographers on the E-mount system.
