Western Digital has announced a prototype of what it’s calling the world’s smallest 1TB flash drive, which will be launched under the SanDisk brand.
Western Digital hasn’t provided any other details about the SanDisk 1TB USB-C drive, nor when it plans to launch it, but we can see from the first images that it is indeed quite small.
Just before Christmas Western Digital announced it would be launching microwave-powered 40TB drives by 2025.
Its new microwave-assisted magnetic recording technology will allow the company to record data at higher densities.
Whether this new 1TB flash drive is the first step in this new process isn’t yet clear.
