Canon has expanded its professional video ecosystem with the introduction of two new tools aimed at high-end filmmaking and live production: the CN30×40 IAS J R1/P1 ultra-telephoto cinema zoom lens and the RC-IP300 multi-camera PTZ controller. Announced in London on 15 April 2026, the releases reflect Canon’s continued focus on integrating advanced optics with intelligent control systems for increasingly complex production environments. The CN30×40 IAS J R1/P1 stands out for its exceptional focal range, offering a 30x zoom spanning 40–1200mm, extendable to 60–1800mm via a built-in extender. Designed primarily for Super35mm sensors, the lens can also achieve full-frame coverage when the 1.5x extender is engaged. This versatility makes it particularly appealing for wildlife cinematography, sports broadcasting and remote production scenarios where extreme reach is essential.
