Samsung is looking into how it can develop a 600-megapixel ISOCELL image sensor for smartphone cameras, according to reports.
The speculation comes from a leaked slide from a Samsung Semiconductor presentation obtained by Ice Universe, which has previously leaked such milestone developments.
Samsung has previously announced the development of a 108-megapixel ISOCELL sensor, but according to the leaked presentation Samsung is now considering a 1/0.57-inch 600MP sensor with 0.8μm pixels.
To realise this, the smartphone camera would need to be considerably thicker and take up more space within the phone’s body design.
