Canon could be adding an intriguing new prime lens to its range of EF optics, according to whispers online.

Canon Rumors reports that it has been told Canon has a protoype for an EF 135mm f/2L II lens within the company, but that the new Canon lens hasn’t yet been distributed to its ambassadors for field testing.

As Canon Rumors rightly points out, though, development of Canon’s L lenses historically take quite some time, so even though a prototype exists we might not see the 135mm f/2L II on the market for a while.

The rumor site also suggests that we’ll see new 50mm and 85mm lenses from Canon in the next year or so.
