Two smartphones bring ZEISS optics to mobile creators worldwide

vivo has announced the global launch of its latest imaging-focused smartphones, the X300 Ultra and X300 FE, positioning both devices as powerful tools for photographers and content creators. Revealed on 16 April 2026, the new models highlight vivo’s continued collaboration with ZEISS, bringing advanced optics, computational photography and professional video features into the mobile space.

The flagship X300 Ultra is the centrepiece of the launch, marking the first time the company’s top-tier imaging device has debuted globally. At its core is the ZEISS Master Lenses Collection, which combines three prime focal lengths—14mm, 35mm and 85mm—each paired with ultra-sensing sensors to deliver a complete, professional-grade imaging system. The 85mm telephoto camera features a 200MP sensor and gimbal-level stabilisation, designed to maintain clarity even in fast-moving scenarios such as wildlife or sports photography.

A major highlight is the introduction of new telephoto extenders, including a 400mm equivalent option that significantly expands shooting reach. As described on page 3 of the press materials, this extender uses a Kepler-inspired optical design with 15 glass elements to achieve high magnification while maintaining image quality and stabilisation. This positions the X300 Ultra as one of the most versatile long-range imaging smartphones currently available.

Beyond stills, vivo has placed strong emphasis on video. The X300 Ultra supports 4K 120fps 10-bit Log recording across multiple focal lengths, alongside Dolby Vision capture and compatibility with professional colour workflows such as ACES. These capabilities are complemented by a redesigned Pro Video mode and optional SmallRig accessory system, effectively transforming the device into a modular filmmaking tool.

The X300 FE, meanwhile, offers a more compact alternative without sacrificing imaging performance. It features a 50MP ZEISS Super Telephoto Camera, a 50MP main camera and an ultra-wide lens, delivering flexible focal coverage in a lightweight body. Notably, it supports a 200mm equivalent focal length using the ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2, bringing long-range capabilities to a smaller form factor.

AI-driven features also play a key role in the FE model, with tools such as AI True Clarity Engine and Stage Mode enhancing detail and performance in challenging lighting conditions, particularly for concerts and live events. The inclusion of 4K and 8K video options further broadens its appeal to hybrid shooters.

Together, the X300 Ultra and X300 FE demonstrate vivo’s ambition to bridge the gap between traditional cameras and smartphones. By combining ZEISS optics, advanced sensors and increasingly sophisticated software, the company is targeting creators who demand both portability and professional-grade results.
