Apple doesn’t publish battery capacities for its iPhones, but EU energy labelling rules mean the figures appear anyway. The label for the new iPhone Duo (model A3720) shows that Apple’s first foldable has a total battery capacity of 4,883mAh.

That capacity is split across two batteries, one on each side of the fold. Apple calls this a dual-battery architecture and says it gives all-day battery life. The label rates the Duo’s endurance at 51 hours and 30 minutes per charge cycle under the EU’s standard test, and says the batteries are designed to retain their performance for at least 1,000 charge cycles.

The figures were first spotted by MacRumors and reported by GSMArena. Because the iPhone Duo is eSIM-only worldwide, the capacity is likely to be the same in every market.

For photographers and filmmakers, battery life matters as much as image quality. The iPhone Duo can shoot 4K at 120fps in Dolby Vision, and its 7.6-inch inner screen is a great viewfinder, but both are demanding on power. A 4,883mAh capacity is respectable for a foldable this thin, but anyone planning long shoots will still want a power bank in their bag.

The iPhone Duo goes on sale in the UK on Friday 23 October, priced from £1,999, although delivery estimates for new pre-orders have already slipped well into the new year.
