Sony has opened entries for the 2027 Sony Future Filmmaker Awards, and the fifth edition arrives with a notable addition. Alongside the established programme, which exists to give breakthrough filmmakers a direct line into the industry, this year introduces a brand-new Immersive category presented by Meta — a clear signal of where Sony and its partners see storytelling heading.
The Immersive category celebrates experiential storytelling in 3D, 180° and 360° video, and is deliberately broad in scope: it’s open to any genre, fiction or non-fiction, live-action or animation.
