Nikon has closed Nikon Image Space, its long-running online storage and sharing service, and moved those features into Nikon Imaging Cloud.

The service shut down at 12:00 Japan Standard Time on 15 October 2026. If you still have photos stored there, you can sign in through a web browser and bulk download everything until 1:00pm JST on 15 April 2027, which is 5:00am UK time. After that, Nikon says all data will be permanently deleted.

There are restrictions on how you get your images back. Only bulk downloads are available, so you can’t choose individual albums or images, and you can’t download through the smartphone app. You’ll need to sign in at the Nikon Image Space website on a desktop or mobile browser and follow the on-screen instructions.

Image storage and sharing now live in Nikon Imaging Cloud. Importantly, Nikon says these features are open to anyone, even if you don’t own a Nikon Imaging Cloud-compatible camera. The free allowance is 5GB, and it supports JPEG, RAW, HEIF and TIFF files.

Nikon Image Space was a simple way for Nikon owners to back up and share their images. If you used it years ago and haven’t logged in since, now is a good time to check what’s still there. Six months sounds generous, but deadlines like this are easy to forget.

It’s also a reminder that cloud services aren’t permanent archives. We always recommend keeping at least one local copy of your important images, plus a second backup somewhere else.
