Fujifilm has officially announced the X-E5, full details are still to come but here is what I expect to come..
You can watch the full announcement here:
The latest addition to its compact rangefinder-style mirrorless camera series. Building on the minimalist appeal of the X-E4, the new model introduces a number of significant upgrades, bringing it up to speed with Fujifilm’s flagship APS-C offerings while maintaining its slim, lightweight form factor.
At the heart of the X-E5 is the same 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor found in the X-T5 and X100VI. This high-resolution sensor is paired with the X-Processor 5, delivering improved image detail, faster processing, and expanded video capabilities. The combination allows for 6.2K/30p and 4K/60p video recording, putting serious content creation power into an extremely portable body.
Autofocus has also seen a notable leap forward, with subject-detection AF powered by deep learning. This enables more accurate tracking of people, animals, and vehicles — a clear improvement over the X-E4’s more basic AF system. Despite these upgrades, Fujifilm has kept the design streamlined: the X-E5 remains the most compact interchangeable lens camera in the X Series to feature the new sensor and processor pairing.
The 3.0-inch rear touchscreen retains its tilting design but now boasts 1.62 million dots for sharper previews and improved menu navigation. Other notable upgrades include Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C charging and data transfer, and support for UHS-II SD cards for faster write speeds. True to form, the X-E5 does not include in-body image stabilisation (IBIS), staying consistent with the lightweight ethos of the line.
Aimed at street photographers, travellers, and everyday creatives, the X-E5 offers premium image quality and modern performance without the bulk. It’s an appealing update for those looking to step up from the X-E4 or enter the X Series with a camera that balances simplicity and power.
