DJI has officially launched the DJI Mic 3, its most advanced wireless microphone system to date, combining professional-grade audio capture with an ultra-compact design. Announced on 28 August 2025, the Mic 3 brings unprecedented capabilities to creators, journalists, and filmmakers, extending the OsmoAudio™ ecosystem and redefining wireless sound recording.
Weighing just 16 grams per transmitter, the DJI Mic 3 is designed to be discreet and highly portable. The system can pair up to four transmitters and eight receivers, making it perfect for group interviews or multi-camera productions. A rotating clip and magnetic mount provide versatile wearing options, while optional multi-colour windscreens add both style and function.
The key headline feature is the internal dual-file 32-bit float recording, offering a much wider dynamic range and saving both raw and algorithm-enhanced versions of audio. With 32GB of onboard storage per transmitter, the Mic 3 captures every whisper and shout—ideal for unpredictable or high-dynamic sound environments. For post-production professionals, timecode support ensures seamless synchronisation across multiple video and audio sources.
Another major leap is the inclusion of adaptive gain control. Users can toggle between Automatic and Dynamic modes depending on their recording setting. Automatic mode prevents clipping during sudden loud bursts—perfect for concerts or live sports—while Dynamic mode keeps volume levels steady in quieter indoor scenarios like interviews or podcast sessions.
Three voice tone presets—Regular, Rich, and Bright—allow for tailored vocal optimisation, while two-level active noise cancellation and 24-bit lossless audio transmission round out a highly polished audio experience.
The system is fully integrated with the DJI Mimo app for firmware updates, parameter tuning, and real-time monitoring. Connectivity options include Bluetooth for smartphones, USB-C, and both TRS and TRRS 3.5mm outputs, ensuring wide compatibility with cameras, mobile devices, and computers. DJI’s own devices—such as the Osmo Pocket 3 and Osmo Action 5 Pro—can connect directly without the receiver, streamlining the workflow further.
DJI will showcase the Mic 3 at this year’s IFA in Berlin from 5–9 September, giving creators a hands-on preview of its impressive capabilities.
