Canon EOS C50 Cinema Camera price, specifications and availability announced

Hybrid EOS C50 offers 7K RAW and full-frame video

News

Canon has officially unveiled the Cinema EOS C50, a compact, hybrid-focused cinema camera designed for solo shooters, small crews, and content creators producing for multi-platform delivery. With features that rival larger cinema systems, the EOS C50 sits just below the C70 and C400 in Canon’s growing professional video line-up, while introducing new capabilities to the EOS ecosystem.

Central to the C50 is a brand-new 32-megapixel full-frame sensor, capable of 7K RAW internal recording at up to 60fps and oversampled 4K up to 120fps. Notably, this is Canon’s first camera to support full open-gate internal recording — allowing flexible framing and future-proof workflows ideal for vertical, square, and cinematic widescreen projects.

Autofocus is powered by Canon’s latest Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system with intelligent tracking, while full-frame dynamic range reaches 15+ stops. Video is recorded in a variety of formats including Cinema RAW Light, XF-AVC, MP4, and HEVC. Stills shooters benefit from up to 40fps burst at full 32MP resolution, with support for RAW, JPEG and HEIF.

The modular design includes a removable top handle with dual XLR inputs, full-size HDMI, timecode terminal, and a three-inch articulated LCD screen. Rigging flexibility is enhanced by multiple ¼” mount points and compatibility with the new BG-R20 battery grip.

The EOS C50 supports Frame.io Camera to Cloud, Wi-Fi and Ethernet networking, USB streaming, and multi-camera control via Canon’s XC Protocol. Designed for versatility, it targets corporate, commercial, event, wedding, and documentary production markets — particularly those needing a high-end tool in a lightweight package.
