Atomos has introduced the Ninja TX, a major leap forward in its renowned Ninja line of monitor-recorders. Built from the ground up with a new industrial design, the Ninja TX is the first in the Ninja range to integrate 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 input/output, CFexpress Type B recording, and wireless cloud-ready features, all in a compact 5-inch form factor. Aimed squarely at professional photographers and filmmakers, it delivers unmatched monitoring, recording, and connected capabilities for modern production workflows.
The Ninja TX brings significant enhancements for both video shooters and hybrid creators. Most notably, it supports recording in Apple ProRes, ProRes RAW, Avid DNx, and H.265/H.264 formats right out of the box — no license fees or unlocks required. Its updated AtomOS, now based on Linux, provides faster performance, a modern interface, and reliable over-the-air firmware updates.
This new Ninja features a 1500-nit 5-inch touchscreen, offering 50% more brightness than previous models — a welcome improvement for outdoor and location shoots. Onscreen monitoring tools include EL ZONE™ false colour, waveform, vectorscope, RGB parade, and focus peaking, giving users professional-level exposure and focus control.
The addition of CFexpress Type B media support — a first for a Ninja — enables ultra-fast RAW video capture at resolutions up to 8K at 30fps, 4K up to 60fps, and HD up to 120fps. Dual USB-C ports provide the option to record to external drives or connect accessories simultaneously, making it ideal for extended shoots and fast handoffs.
For connected workflows, Ninja TX includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, and AirGlu™ timecode sync. Users can upload directly to Frame.io, Dropbox, or ATOMOSphere, and even stream in real time using NDI 6/HX3 — making it one of the most cloud-ready devices in its class.
Physically, the new housing offers improved thermal efficiency and reduced weight, helping the Ninja TX run quieter and cooler. A redesigned cable locking system for HDMI and USB-C helps secure connections during handheld or rigged operation. A USB-C locking cable is included in the box, with HDMI locking cables available separately.
Atomos CEO Peter Barber said, “Ninja TX is a completely new product, re-engineered from the ground up. It’s the most advanced Ninja we’ve ever built, and it sets a new standard for portable monitor-recorders.”
For professionals using mirrorless, DSLR, or cinema cameras, Ninja TX offers a powerful, flexible, and future-proof monitoring and recording solution ready for the evolving demands of hybrid and cloud-enabled production.
