British accessories brand 3 Legged Thing has added a new camouflage pattern called TREE to its Magic Wraps range of reusable protective wraps, aimed at wildlife photographers and anyone who spends time working outdoors.
TREE is double-sided. One side carries a detailed woodland pattern of bark, branches and foliage, and the other a more traditional camouflage design in natural greens and earthy tones, so you can pick whichever suits the location.
Magic Wraps are soft, padded wraps that protect kit from knocks, bumps and scratches. They use a self-adhesive hook-and-loop structure that grips to itself without glue or a sticky coating, so they can be wrapped around anything from a camera body or lens to binoculars, a drone or a hard drive.
Quiet in the field
The feature that will matter most to wildlife photographers is that Magic Wraps are virtually silent to open and close. Ripping open a Velcro pouch next to a hide is a sure way to send birds scattering, so a quiet wrap combined with a camouflage pattern makes a lot of sense for anyone carrying lenses in a hide or stalking deer at first light.
Alongside TREE, 3 Legged Thing is simplifying its range. Its existing waterproof Wrapz are being renamed Magic Wraps Waterproof, which brings both options under one name. Standard Magic Wraps are double-treated on both sides for water resistance, while the Waterproof versions add an extra built-in waterproof layer for wetter conditions.

Wraps like these are one of those accessories that earn their place in a bag. They take up far less space than dedicated padded cases, and they let you carry a body or lens in a general-purpose bag without worrying about scratches.
