Phase One has launched Capture One 11, the latest version of its raw conversion and photo editing software.
Among the upgrades over Capture One 10 are a streamlined workflow, faster processing engine, more Layer and Mask options and a Refine Edge tool.
Phase One says its flagship software now also supports more than 400 camera models.
New features in Capture One 11
Phase One has added new tools to refine and feather a mask after drawing, or adjust the opacity of a layer to control the impact of local adjustments.
You can now control the impact of your local adjustments by changing the opacity of each layer. Once adjustments are made across as many tools as needed, you can drag the opacity slider to decrease the overall impact of the layer.
Phase One says its new Feather Mask tool simplifies the process for softening the edges of a mask after drawing. This means users can avoid having to redraw masks by simply dragging a slider to feather the edges.
A new Refine Edge tool lets you make more precise edges on your masks. You can use this with the Auto Mask function or Masks from Color Edits for more precise edits, like cutting out hair.
This new tool lets you remove the colour from your image while making a mask so that missed areas are more visible.
You can now annotate your images in Capture One 11 by adding handwritten notes and drawings directly on your images. You can then export these in PSD files as separate layers.
Like annotations, you can now use graphics or other images as overlays on your image and include the overlay as a separate layer in your exported PSD file.
Crops can be respected or added as a Path when exporting to PSD files, permitting the full image to be used later for retouching.
Watermark on Layer
Capture One 11 also lets you include your watermark as a separate layer in your exported PSD file to have full control of further editing or removing it after processing.
Phase One says it has increased the overall performance of Capture One 11, making it faster and more stable.
A Duplicate Checker tool helps prevent you from importing the same file twice in your Catalog or Session.
Phase One says it has revamped the Color Balance, Color Editor, White Balance and other tools to show smoother transitions between each layer.
Colour readouts can now be viewed in LAB mode.
Improved performance in Catalogs makes the overall experience, start-up time, and backup routines even better, Phase One says. Sessions are now more robust with network drives, accommodating advanced storage, and backup setups.
