Panasonic has announced a new telephoto zoom lens, introducing the LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 50-200mm F2.8-4.0 ASPH, price tag £1,599.99.
Panasonic’s new LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 50-200mm F2.8-4.0 ASPH lens covers an equivalent focal range of 100-400mm and joins the company’s growing LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT f/2.8-4.0 series of optics.
Like the other lenses in the range, the LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 50-200mm F2.8-4.0 ASPH features Nano Surface Coating to help minimise ghosting and flare.
Internally, the new Panasonic telephoto zoom lens is comprised of 21 elements in 15 groups, and the lens system features two Ultra Extra-low Dispersion lenses, two Extra-low Dispersion lenses and two aspherical lenses to help reduce spherical distortion and chromatic aberrations.
An inner focus drive system promises silent operation, and Panasonic says a micro-step drive system in the aperture control section helps the camera to smoothly catch up to brightness changes when zooming or panning.
Panasonic says – when paired with a Lumix G camera – it has also enhanced AF tracking performance in zooming thanks to high-speed frame analysis for focus control.
Panasonic’s LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT F2.8-4.0 Series now covers focal lengths from 16 to 400mm (35mm equivalent) with the:
- LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 8-18mm / F2.8-4.0 ASPH. (H-E08018)
- LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 12-60mm/F2.8-4.0 ASPH. (H-ES12060)
- LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 50-200mm / F2.8-4.0 ASPH. (H-ES50200)
