Panasonic has announced the release of the LUMIX S 18-40mm F4.5-6.3, the world’s smallest and lightest zoom lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras. Unveiled on 8th October 2024, this ultra-compact lens is designed for the L-Mount system and weighs just 155g (0.34lb). Its versatile focal range, from an ultra-wide 18mm to a standard 40mm, makes it ideal for capturing landscapes, architecture, and natural perspective portraits.

The LUMIX S 18-40mm’s lightweight construction complements Panasonic’s compact full-frame LUMIX S series cameras, such as the LUMIX S9. Despite its small size, the lens delivers professional-quality images and is engineered for both photography and video performance. It effectively suppresses focus breathing, ensuring smooth transitions in video recording.

Designed with outdoor enthusiasts in mind, the lens is robustly built, featuring dust, splash, and freeze resistance, along with a fluorine coating for added durability. The lens also integrates seamlessly with Panasonic’s Hybrid Zoom function, extending its focal range to 18-120mm when paired with compatible cameras like the LUMIX S9.

Available in October 2024, the LUMIX S 18-40mm lens retails for £599 / $599. For more information, visit Panasonic LUMIX.
