Lost among the details of Adobe’s big Creative Cloud update yesterday was a new Technology Preview for Lightroom Mobile on iOS that demonstrates new technology that can simulate the effect of long exposures in your images without the need for a tripod.
The technology is a workaround for iPhones and iPads, which are limited to maximum shutter speeds of 1/4sec.
How it works is, the feature instructs your iPhone or iPad to capture a short burst of images either as JPEGs or DNG files. Using AI, it then analyses the images and merges them together into one image that simulates a long exposure effect.
The technology isn’t yet ready to roll out, but Adobe has enabled the Preview in order to get feedback from photographers.
