More than half of the images that received commendations in the World Press Photo Awards 2018 competition were shot with Nikon cameras, led by the Nikon D5 and D810.
According to stats compiled by Photolari, Nikon was the most popular brand of choice for photographers entering the competition. Some 51.5% of the finalists shot their images with Nikon cameras, compared to 29.9% who used Nikon. Some 6.2% shot with Fujifilm and 5.1% were Sony users.
The Nikon D5 and D810 were the most widely used cameras, respectively, followed by the Canon EOS 5D Mark III, Nikon D800E, Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, Nikon D4s and Nikon D700.
The Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Nikon D4 and Canon EOS 6D rounded out the top 10.
According to the numbers, some 83.5% of the cameras used by finalists were DSLRs, while just 11.3% were mirrorless cameras.
