It’s action camera release season and after a break from the more affordable and compact model from the market leader today GoPro has announced the release of the new HERO camera alongside the hotly anticipated GoPro Hero13 Black, this smaller camera is akin to the superb GoPro Hero11 Black Mini and will be the companies most compact and affordable 4K-capable model to date. At just £199.99, the HERO offers a combination of high-resolution video capabilities and rugged design, making it an ideal choice for both new and experienced users looking for an ultra-portable action camera option.

Weighing in at only 86 grams, the HERO is the lightest and smallest GoPro with a screen, featuring a 35% reduction in volume and 46% less mass than the HERO13 Black. Despite its compact size, the HERO is built to withstand tough environments with its rugged, waterproof design, capable of withstanding depths of up to 16 feet (5 meters).

The HERO delivers impressive 4K Ultra HD video and HD 1080p video, as well as 12MP photos and 2.7K slow-motion footage at 60 frames per second. The camera also supports a 16:9 aspect ratio, ideal for creating YouTube-optimised, horizontal videos. With its intuitive touch screen and one-button control, users can easily navigate settings and start recording with minimal effort.

The HERO is also equipped with GoPro’s Enduro battery technology, providing up to 100 minutes of continuous recording at its highest video settings on a single charge. Additionally, the HERO is compatible with the GoPro Quik app, allowing users to edit their footage and create highlight videos automatically.
