OBSBOT has officially unveiled the Tail 2, a groundbreaking 4K camera featuring the world’s first three-axis PTZR (Pan, Tilt, Zoom, Rotate) design. Designed for solo creators, filmmakers, live streamers, and educators, the Tail 2 combines cinematic imaging, AI-powered tracking, and lossless vertical shooting in a compact yet powerful package.
At the heart of the Tail 2 is its 1/1.5-inch CMOS sensor, capable of capturing 4K video at 60fps and 1080p at 120fps. With 5x optical zoom, 12x hybrid zoom, and HDR support, it ensures sharp and vibrant visuals across various lighting conditions. AI-enhanced low-light performance further improves clarity in dim environments, making it suitable for indoor productions and stage performances.
The Tail 2’s PTZR system introduces a gimbal-based design with 90-degree rotation, providing smooth motion and stable shots. Its Auto Leveling System keeps horizons perfectly aligned, while R-Axis Stabilization minimizes shake, delivering professional-quality movement without external stabilizers.
AI Tracking 2.0 takes camera automation to new heights, allowing precise subject tracking through modes like “Only Me” for solo creators and Group Tracking for multi-person setups. The camera also recognizes over 200 objects and 30 animal species, making it ideal for diverse content creation needs. Users can customise tracking speeds and axis control, ensuring seamless adaptation to any shooting scenario.
For professionals, the Tail 2 supports multi-protocol connectivity, including NDI, RTMP, RTSP, 3G-SDI, and FreeD. It features full-size HDMI 2.0, USB 3.0, Ethernet, RS-232, and Wi-Fi 6, ensuring compatibility with live broadcasting, AR/VR applications, and multi-camera setups. Additionally, it integrates seamlessly with OBSBOT’s software ecosystem for streamlined control and live streaming.
Weighing just 1.066kg, the Tail 2 is portable yet robust, featuring a 5000mAh battery for up to five hours of continuous shooting. A dual-colour tally light aids in multi-camera coordination, while a built-in ¼-inch mounting interface ensures flexible positioning. Gesture controls and AI-powered face framing further enhance hands-free operation and dynamic composition control.
