Google has quietly introduced a new update that allows users to play back 360 videos within its Google Photos platform.
Previously, Google Photos has only been able to store your 360 videos without being able to offer an immersive viewing experience. It could support 360-degree viewing of still images, but for videos you needed to upload them to YouTube for the full experience.
In the past few weeks Google has updated Google Photos to support a 360-degree viewing experience of video content.
What’s more, the update works on videos such as this one, which was uploaded months ago before the update.
The coding change supports pre-existing content, and I didn’t need to change the metadata of my existing videos in the platform to be able to view them in 360 degrees.
