UPDATE:

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s tease from DJI, today the company has released another teaser for a separate product – Again, the teaser is less than subtle and looks set to follow in their line of video accessories – you can read more on our RS3 Pro review here and DJI RS 3 Mini Review here Get notified about upcoming DJI Launch

DJI has just teased a new product launch set for April 11, 2024, at 9 AM EDT. This announcement has sparked interest and speculation among enthusiasts and professionals alike, although the teaser does give quite a bit away about the nature of this new drone. However, with little more information at present, let’s take a look at what DJI has been up to in the last four years.

Back in April 2020, we saw the release of the Mavic Air 2; you can check out my review here, but essentially, The DJI Mavic Air 2 was positioned between the Mavic Mini and Mavic Pro and looked to cater to enthusiast photographers and videographers. It offered a high-resolution camera for outstanding image quality, improved flight and control, and a revamped handset design. Ideal for those seeking professional-grade imagery without the Mavic Pro’s price tag.

In 2021, the DJI Mini 2 emerged, offering 4K video in an ultra-lightweight design. I absolutely loved this small drone due to its size and agility. This compact drone also proved that high-quality aerial footage could be achieved with a drone under 250 grams.

The following year, 2022, saw the release of the DJI Mavic 3, which featured a dual-camera system with a 4/3 CMOS sensor, delivering exceptional image quality and dynamic range. This is the drone that I still use regularly.

DJI has also seen the release of a few updated versions of those key drones with the Mavic 3 Pro and Classic, the Mavic Air 3 and DJI Mini 3 and Mini 4 in September 2023 along with the Pro versions of those two drones.

The other big release in 2022 was the DJI Avata an FPV drone designed for fun and racing rather than imaging.

The upcoming product launch is expected to build on this legacy. The drone community eagerly anticipates another groundbreaking product that will set new standards in drone technology.

While details of the new product remain under wraps, the teaser has undoubtedly given us a good idea of what is to come. Keep an eye out here for more information, and register on the DJI site for more information.
