Canon has announced the RF 24-50mm F4.5-6.3, price tag £379.99, a new budget standard zoom lens aimed at enthusiasts.
The new Canon RF lens is one of its most affordable zoom lenses to date for Canon full-frame R system cameras, and its compact, lightweight form at just 210g makes it very portable for travel. As an all-rounder, Canon says it is also designed for family and group portraiture, as well as interiors
The RF 24-50mm F4.5-6.3 boasts a 4.5-stop Optical Image Stabilizer, and when used with a Canon R system camera with IBIS it can provide up to 7 stops of combined Image Stabilisation.
As an STM lens, the new RF 24-50mm F4.5-6.3 promises smoother autofocus, and the new Canon lens also supports focus breathing correction.
Inside is a 7-blade near-circular aperture, while on the outside a customisable Control Ring sits around the lens barrel and allows you to adjust Tv/Av/ISO settings, which can be changed with the AF/Control/MF switch to suit the scenario you’re shooting.
Other features include minimum focusing from just 0.3m at the 24mm end and 0.35m at the 50mm end of the focal range, with a maximum 0.19x magnification.
