News

Canon has announced the RF 135mm F1.8L IS USM, price tag £2,549.99 / €2,999.99, a new telephoto prime L series lens with a fast aperture.

Aimed at portrait and low-light photography, the new Canon RF 135mm F1.8L IS USM features a bright f/1.8 aperture for shooting in dark conditions and taking control of depth of field.

The new RF L-series lens also boasts a built-in optical image stabilizer that provides up to 5.5 stops of stabilization. This can increase to eight stops when used with Canon cameras with IBIS technology.

A nine-blade aperture enables smooth, well-rounded bokeh, and the RF 135mm F1.8L IS USM is also great for close shooting with a minimum focus distance of 0.7m tat gives a 0.26x magnification.

The optical construction of the RF 135mm F1.8L IS USM features three UD elements for more accurate colours, while ASC and Super Spectra Coatings help minimise ghosting and flare.

Inside the lens, a Nano USM promises fast and quiet AF, while a customisable Control Ring lets you make adjustments to exposure settings.

The Canon RF 135mm F1.8L IS USM is also the first non-super-telephoto Canon lens to feature two Lens Function buttons.

The Canon RF 135mm F1.8L IS USM price tag will be £2,549.99 / €2,999.99, with a release date set for 22 December 2022.
